Industry Use

Houston is one of the most diverse economies in the U.S., with industries ranging from oil and gas to shipping, construction, and retail — and our shipping containers support them all.

  • Energy & Industrial: Containers are often used near Houston’s Energy Corridor for equipment storage, parts inventory, and mobile workshops at oil and gas facilities.

  • Port & Shipping: With one of the busiest ports in the nation, Houston businesses use containers for short-term freight storage and staging, providing secure, weatherproof space close to shipping terminals.

  • Construction: Contractors across Harris County rely on containers to store tools, building materials, and safety equipment on job sites in both urban and suburban areas.

  • Agriculture & Rural Use: Farms outside the metro — in Brazoria, Montgomery, and Fort Bend counties — use containers for feed, machinery, and seasonal storage.

  • Retail & Residential: Businesses in Katy and The Woodlands use containers for seasonal inventory overflow, while homeowners across Southeast Texas convert them into temporary storage or personal workshops.

Whether you’re in Houston proper or in surrounding counties, our containers provide a secure, flexible, and affordable storage solution. Choose from 20ft, 40ft, and high cube sizes, in Wind & Watertight (WWT), Cargo Worthy (CW), or One-Trip condition.

Everything went smoothly and happened just as I was told that it was going to. Containers were in great condition (1 trip). Would definitely buy from usedconnex again.
Phillip Mumford
Used Conex LLC was great to work with. The staff were friending and helped make the process easy. After we purchased the conex they called to schedule delivery. Met them on the day of delivery and within minutes it was in place and ready for us to begin using as a storage building for our Boys &Girls Club. Thanks for your help!
Donna Rauch

FAqS

We’ve answered the most common questions about buying and receiving shipping containers from Used Conex. From site prep to delivery timing, you’ll find everything you need to know here.

Do you deliver to both Houston metro and rural Southeast Texas?

Yes — from downtown Houston to Galveston, Beaumont, and surrounding counties.

Are containers safe for Houston’s hot, humid climate?

Absolutely — all our containers are sealed against water and built to withstand Gulf Coast conditions.

Do you service Houston’s port areas?

Yes — we frequently deliver to businesses and warehouses near the Port of Houston.

Can containers be delivered to farms outside the city?

Yes — we deliver to farms and ranches throughout Southeast Texas.

Am I able to pick a color?

Most customers want to choose their container color, and sometimes this is possible, but not always. You get the first container off of the stack at the intermodal depot. If you order multiple containers, it is often possible to get the color of your choice. Also, one trip containers are generally tan or beige.

Can I see the container before purchasing?

Unfortunately, customers don’t have access to the depots for liability reasons. All the containers are inspected before delivery, and we always recommend our customers to check the container at delivery. If you want to pick up your container, you will be given a release number and the depot information.

What’s the origin of shipping containers?

Containers come from different parts of the world, carrying items such as food, clothes, etc. Most containers coming into the United States are shipped from China, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany and the UK.
